Daniel 12:4

Posted on 18 May at 14:54
Listen to this article

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

Context:The book of Daniel primarily focuses on the life and visions of the prophet Daniel during the time of the Babylonian captivity. In the previous chapters, Daniel receives numerous prophetic visions and messages, including visions of future empires and events leading up to the end times.

Instruction to Seal the Book:In this verse, Daniel is instructed to “shut up the words, and seal the book.” This indicates that the prophecies and visions he has received are not immediately meant to be understood or deciphered. They are to be preserved and hidden until a later time, specifically “to the time of the end.” This implies that the true meaning and fulfillment of these prophecies will become clear as the end times draw near.

Many Shall Run to and Fro:The verse goes on to state that “many shall run to and fro.” This phrase can be interpreted as people seeking knowledge and understanding. In the context of the end times, it suggests an increase in human activity and exploration, perhaps even referring to advancements in travel and transportation that will enable people to move swiftly from one place to another.

Knowledge Shall Be Increased:The verse concludes with the statement that “knowledge shall be increased.” This phrase has been interpreted to refer to a general increase in knowledge and understanding. In the context of the end times, it suggests that as the time draws near, God will grant an increase in knowledge and insight into the prophecies and mysteries contained in the book of Daniel and throughout the Scriptures.

Overall, Daniel 12:4 points to a time in the future when the prophecies contained in the book of Daniel will be unsealed, understood, and revealed. It speaks of increased knowledge and understanding, indicating that God will provide insight into His plans and purposes as the end times approach. This verse also highlights the importance of diligently studying the Scriptures and seeking wisdom and understanding from God.
