And his miracles, and his actes, which he did in the midst of Egypt, vnto Pharaoh the King of Egypt, and vnto all his land, Deuteronomy 11:3 (KJV)

The book of Deuteronomy records a series of speeches given by Moses to the Israelites just before they entered the Promised Land. In these addresses Moses reminds the people of God’s faithfulness, the commandments He has given, and the vital importance of wholehearted obedience.

In Deuteronomy 11:3 Moses calls the Israelites to remember the miracles, signs, and wonders that the LORD their God performed among them in the land of Egypt. The passage highlights God’s power and His direct intervention on behalf of His chosen people. The extraordinary events include the ten plagues that struck Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, and the overall deliverance of the Israelites from slavery. These acts demonstrated God’s supremacy over the false gods of Egypt and affirmed that He alone is the true God.

The reference to “the midst of Egypt” underscores that these divine interventions occurred in the heart of the Egyptian empire, where the Israelites were held captive. God’s supernatural work was not confined to remote or hidden places; it unfolded before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and throughout the entire land, affecting every aspect of Egyptian life. The plagues and other judgments displayed God’s authority over the nation and its deities, leaving lasting consequences for Pharaoh and his people.

The significance of this verse is two‑fold. First, it serves as a reminder of God’s unwavering faithfulness and mighty power. By recalling the miraculous acts that secured their liberation, the Israelites were encouraged to trust God’s continued provision as they prepared to possess the Promised Land. Second, the passage links obedience with blessing: the miracles were a result of God’s covenant, and the people’s proper response was to obey His commandments.

For believers today the verse offers several key lessons. It underscores God’s ability to perform mighty acts even amid seemingly impossible circumstances, inviting us to place our confidence in His sovereignty over all rulers and nations. Reflecting on the recorded interventions of God deepens our faith and strengthens our relationship with Him, helping us recognize His hand in our own lives. Finally, the passage reminds us that obedience to God’s Word is inseparable from the experience of His promises and blessings. By remembering God’s past faithfulness, we are motivated to live faithfully, trusting that He will continue to work wonders in our midst.

In summary, Deuteronomy 11:3 calls the people to remember the miracles, signs, and wonders performed in Egypt, to recognize God’s power and faithfulness, and to respond with obedient trust as they move forward in their covenant relationship with Him.
