And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with fauour, and full with the blessing of the Lord: possesse thou the West and the South. Deuteronomy 33:23 (KJV)

Deuteronomy 33:23 is part of Moses’ blessings to the twelve tribes of Israel before his death. This verse focuses on the tribe of Naphtali and conveys a message of blessing and favour.

Tribes of Naphtali:

Naphtali was one of the twelve tribes of Israel, descended from Naphtali, the son of Jacob (Israel). Their territory lay in the northern part of the Promised Land, near the Sea of Galilee.

Satisfaction and Favour:

The verse begins, “O Naphtali, satisfied with favour.” It indicates that the tribe would experience contentment as a result of the Lord’s favour, meaning God would provide for their needs abundantly.

Blessings of the Lord:

The phrase “full with the blessing of the LORD” emphasizes that Naphtali would be richly blessed—receiving divine favour, protection, provision, and guidance. The blessings are described as abundant and comprehensive.

Possessing the West and the South:

The instruction “possess thou the west and the south” shows that God would grant Naphtali the right to inhabit the western and southern portions of their inheritance, suggesting an expansion of boundaries and plentiful resources.

Overall, Deuteronomy 33:23 portrays God’s favour, blessing, and abundance upon Naphtali. It assures them of satisfaction, divine provision, and a fruitful inheritance. While addressed specifically to Naphtali, the passage also reflects God’s faithfulness to all His people, reminding believers that obedience and faith invite God’s blessings.
