“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

Certainly! Here is a Bible study on Ephesians 1:7 (KJV) says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

Context:The book of Ephesians was written by the apostle Paul to the believers in Ephesus. In this particular verse, Paul is emphasizing the concept of redemption and forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Redemption:The word “redemption” means to be bought back or released from bondage through the payment of a price. In the spiritual sense, it refers to the deliverance of humanity from the power and penalty of sin. Jesus Christ, through His sacrificial death on the cross, paid the price for our sins and redeemed us from the bondage of sin and its consequences.

Through His blood:The phrase “through his blood” refers to the shedding of Jesus’ blood on the cross. The shedding of blood was necessary for the forgiveness of sins under the Old Covenant. In the New Testament, Jesus’ blood serves as the ultimate sacrifice, providing complete forgiveness and reconciliation with God. It is through His blood that our redemption is made possible.

Forgiveness of sins:As a result of our redemption through Christ’s blood, we receive the forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness is the act of pardoning and releasing someone from the guilt and punishment of their offenses. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, God offers forgiveness to all who believe in Him. Our sins are forgiven, and we are reconciled to God, no longer held accountable for our past transgressions.

According to the riches of His grace:The forgiveness of sins is not something we earn or deserve; rather, it is granted to us by God’s grace. Grace is God’s unmerited favour and kindness towards humanity. The phrase “according to the riches of his grace” indicates the abundance and generosity of God’s grace. It emphasizes that God’s forgiveness is not limited or restricted but is freely available to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
