Ezekiel 14:12

Posted on 18 May at 14:59

“The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,”

Context:To understand the verse better, it’s important to look at the surrounding verses and the overall context of the book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel was a prophet who lived during the time of the Babylonian exile. He was called by God to deliver messages of judgment and warning to the Israelites. In this particular chapter, Ezekiel is addressing the idolatry and disobedience of the people.

Divine Communication:The verse begins with Ezekiel acknowledging that the word of the LORD came to him again. Throughout the book of Ezekiel, the phrase “the word of the LORD came” is repeated, emphasizing the divine inspiration and authority behind Ezekiel’s prophetic message. It signifies that Ezekiel is about to deliver a message from God to the people.

Divine Revelation:This verse serves as a reminder that God actively communicates with His chosen messengers. It highlights the importance of divine revelation in delivering God’s will and instructions to His people. The fact that God continued to speak to Ezekiel demonstrates His ongoing involvement in the lives of His people, even in times of judgment.

Importance of the Prophetic Word:Ezekiel’s role as a prophet was crucial in conveying God’s message to the people. The repetition of divine communication emphasizes the weight and significance of the prophetic word. It underscores the authority of the prophet and the importance of listening and responding to the message being delivered.

Application:As believers, we may not have the same prophetic calling as Ezekiel, but we can still learn important lessons from this verse. It reminds us of the importance of seeking and listening to God’s word. Just as God spoke to Ezekiel, He continues to speak to us today through His written word, the Bible, as well as through the Holy Spirit’s guidance and promptings in our lives. We should be attentive to His voice and responsive to His instructions.

  • In conclusion:Ezekiel 14:12 highlights the divine communication between God and His prophet. It underscores the authority and significance of the prophetic word and reminds us of the importance of seeking and heeding God’s word in our lives.
