Ezekiel 34:29

Listen to this article

“And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.”

Context:The book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book in the Old Testament, and this particular verse is found in a section where the Lord addresses the shepherds of Israel who failed in their responsibilities to care for the people. God promises to take charge and provide proper leadership, deliverance, and restoration for His people.

"I will raise up for them a plant of renown":In this verse, God promises to raise up a renowned or famous "plant" for His people. This phrase is metaphorical and refers to a leader or ruler who will arise to guide and govern the people. This leader is expected to bring prosperity, protection, and honour to the nation of Israel.

"They shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land":The people of Israel had experienced hunger and scarcity due to the lack of proper leadership and guidance. God promises that under the rule of the "plant of renown," they will no longer suffer from hunger. This implies that their physical needs will be met, and they will experience abundance and provision in the land.

"Neither bear the shame of the heathen any more":The Israelites had endured the shame and reproach of being conquered and ruled by pagan nations. God assures them that the new leader He raises up will put an end to this shame. The people will no longer be subjected to the humiliation brought upon them by their enemies. Instead, they will regain their dignity and honour among the nations.

Overall, Ezekiel 34:29 is a promise from God to the people of Israel that He will raise up a renowned leader who will provide for their needs, protect them from hunger, and remove the shame brought upon them by their enemies. This verse demonstrates God’s faithfulness and His desire to restore His people to a position of honour and prosperity.
