Ezekiel 37:28

Posted on 18 May at 14:58

“And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.”

Certainly! Here’s a Bible study on Verse: “And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.”

(Ezekiel 37:28, KJV)

Context:The book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book in the Old Testament that contains visions and messages from God to the exiled Israelites. In chapter 37, Ezekiel receives a vision commonly known as the Valley of Dry Bones. Through this vision, God reveals His plan to restore Israel, both physically and spiritually. The vision emphasizes God’s power to bring life to that which was dead, symbolizing the revival of the nation of Israel.

“And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel”:This verse speaks of a future time when the nations, or heathen, will recognize and acknowledge that it is the Lord who sanctifies or sets apart Israel. God’s sanctification of Israel means that He has chosen them as His special people, with a unique purpose and relationship with Him.

“When my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore”:The sanctuary mentioned here refers to God’s dwelling place among His people. In the Old Testament, the sanctuary was the tabernacle or temple where God’s presence resided. However, this verse points to a future time when God’s sanctuary will be in the midst of Israel forever. This can be understood as a reference to the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise to establish His kingdom on earth.

Key Points:

  • God’s sanctification of Israel:Throughout the Bible, God chose Israel as a unique and special nation. He set them apart for Himself and established a covenant with them. This verse affirms that God’s sanctification of Israel is a testament to His sovereignty and faithfulness.
  • Recognition by the nations:The verse suggests that there will come a time when the surrounding nations will acknowledge and recognize God’s work in sanctifying Israel. This recognition could come through witnessing God’s blessings, His presence, and His faithfulness to His promises.
  • The eternal dwelling of God:The verse speaks of a future state where God’s sanctuary will be in the midst of Israel forever. This points to a time of ultimate fulfillment, possibly referring to the future Messianic kingdom or the new heaven and new earth described in the book of Revelation.
  • Application:

    • God’s faithfulness:Ezekiel 37:28 reminds us of God’s faithfulness to His promises. Just as He remained faithful to Israel in the past, He will continue to fulfill His promises in the future. We can trust in God’s faithfulness in our lives as well, knowing that He keeps His word.
    • God’s purpose for His people:Like Israel, believers in Christ are also called to be set apart and sanctified for God’s purposes. We have a unique role to play in God’s plan, and it is essential to live in obedience and holiness, reflecting God’s character to the world around us.
    • Witnessing to the nations:The verse suggests that God’s work in sanctifying His people will be evident to the nations. As followers of Christ, our transformed lives should be a testimony to the power and grace of God. We have the opportunity to be witnesses for Him, allowing others to see His work in us and come to know Him.

Remember to study the Bible in its entirety and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to gain a deeper understanding of God’s Word.
