“And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.”

This verse is a part of the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament. The book of Ezekiel contains visions and prophecies given by God to the prophet Ezekiel during the time of the Babylonian exile.

In Ezekiel 43:2, Ezekiel describes a vision of the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. The phrase “the glory of the God of Israel” refers to the manifest presence and splendor of God. It signifies the divine majesty and power that is beyond human comprehension.

The mention of “the way of the east” indicates the direction from which the glory of God is approaching. In the biblical context, the east often symbolises the source of light and new beginnings. This imagery signifies the arrival of God’s divine presence and the revelation of His will and purpose.

Ezekiel further describes the voice of God as being like a noise of many waters. This comparison emphasises the power, authority, and overwhelming nature of God’s voice. It suggests that God’s voice is loud and awe-inspiring, like the roaring of mighty waters, conveying the strength and magnitude of His words.

Lastly, Ezekiel states that the earth shined with God’s glory. This imagery portrays the radiance and brilliance of God’s presence, which illuminates the entire earth. It symbolises the transformative impact of God’s glory and the manifestation of His divine attributes in the world.

Overall, Ezekiel 43:2 conveys a vivid depiction of the majestic arrival of God’s glory and the profound impact it has on the earth. It highlights the awe-inspiring nature of God’s voice and the radiance of His presence. As readers, we are invited to recognise the surpassing greatness and splendour of God and respond in reverence and worship.

It’s important to note that the book of Ezekiel contains numerous prophetic visions and symbolic language. Therefore, it is essential to study the context and other related verses to gain a comprehensive understanding of the message being conveyed.
