Ezekiel 44:13

Posted on 18 May at 14:57

“And they shall not come near unto me, to do the office of a priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, in the most holy place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed.”

Context:Ezekiel was a prophet who received a vision from God concerning the future restoration and glory of Israel. In this particular chapter, Ezekiel is given instructions for the priests and Levites who will serve in the future temple.

Exclusion from the priestly office:The verse emphasizes that a certain group of people will not be allowed to serve as priests or come near God’s holy things in the most holy place. This exclusion is due to the shame and abominations they have committed.

Spiritual implications:The exclusion mentioned in this verse highlights the importance of holiness and obedience in approaching God. It reminds us that God is holy, and He expects those who serve Him to live in accordance with His standards.

Consequences of sin:The phrase “but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed” signifies the consequences of their past actions. It implies that their shame and the weight of their sins will remain with them, preventing them from assuming the priestly office.

God’s grace and forgiveness:While this verse emphasizes the consequences of sin, it is important to remember that God is also a God of grace and forgiveness. Although some may face exclusion due to their past actions, God’s mercy is available to all who genuinely repent and turn to Him.

Overall, Ezekiel 44:13 serves as a call to holiness and a reminder of the consequences of sin. It encourages believers to strive for purity in their relationship with God and to recognize the importance of living in obedience to His commands.
