Ezekiel 47:14

Listen to this article

“And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.”

And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another:concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance. Ezekiel 47:14 (KJV)

This verse is part of a larger passage in the book of Ezekiel where the prophet receives a vision of a future temple and the restoration of the land of Israel. In this particular verse, God is assuring the people of Israel that they will inherit the land.

Here are some key points we can draw from this verse:

  • Inheritance:The verse emphasizes the concept of inheritance. God assures the Israelites that they will receive their portion of the land, which had been promised to their fathers. This promise was made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and now God reaffirms it to the people of Israel through Ezekiel.
  • Equality:The phrase “one as well as another” indicates that each tribe of Israel will receive an equal share of the land. God’s promise of inheritance is not exclusive to any particular tribe or group but extends to all the children of Israel. This highlights the fairness and impartiality of God’s distribution.
  • God’s Oath:The verse mentions that God “lifted up [His] hand” to give the land to their fathers. This phrase is a symbolic gesture, indicating an oath or a solemn promise. It signifies the unchanging nature of God’s commitment to fulfill His promises to His people. God’s faithfulness to the covenant He made with their ancestors is unwavering.
  • Land as an Inheritance:The land of Israel holds a special significance in the biblical narrative. It was not merely a piece of property but an inheritance from God to His chosen people. The land symbolized His blessings, protection, and the fulfillment of His promises. By reiterating the inheritance of the land, God reaffirms His covenant relationship with Israel.

Overall, Ezekiel 47:14 emphasizes God’s faithfulness to His promises and His commitment to giving the land of Israel as an inheritance to the people. It highlights the equality of the inheritance among the tribes of Israel and reminds the readers of God’s unchanging nature and His commitment to His chosen people.

It is important to study the surrounding verses and the context of the entire book of Ezekiel to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of this verse within the broader message of the book.
