Ezekiel 47:22

Listen to this article

“And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.”

Certainly! Let’s do a Bible study on Ezekiel 47:22 in the King James Version (KJV).

Ezekiel 47:22 says: “And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.”

This verse is part of a larger vision given to the prophet Ezekiel. In this vision, Ezekiel is shown a vision of a future temple and the river that flows out from it, bringing life to the land. The chapter describes how the land will be divided among the twelve tribes of Israel.

In verse 22, Ezekiel is instructed that the land will be divided by lot for an inheritance. The inheritance of the land is a significant concept in the Old Testament, as it symbolizes God’s promise and blessing to His people. By dividing the land among the tribes, each tribe would have its portion of the Promised Land.

However, the verse goes further and speaks of strangers or foreigners who are living among the Israelites. These foreigners are referred to as “strangers that sojourn among you.” Despite being foreigners, if they beget children among the Israelites, those children would be treated as native-born Israelites and receive an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

This concept highlights God’s inclusivity and fairness. It shows that God’s covenant and promises extend beyond ethnic boundaries and include those who choose to join the community of faith. It emphasizes the idea that God’s grace and blessings are available to all who come to Him, regardless of their nationality or background.

This verse also has broader spiritual implications. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul speaks about the concept of spiritual inheritance for believers. In Ephesians 1:11, Paul writes, “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.” As believers in Christ, we are considered heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). We share in the blessings and promises of God’s kingdom.
