Listen to this article

And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly, and hee is become great: and hee hath giuen him flocks, and heards, and siluer, and gold, and men seruants, and mayd seruants, and camels, and asses. Genesis 24:35 (KJV)

Genesis 24:35 is part of a larger passage that recounts the story of Abraham’s servant’s journey to find a wife for Isaac. In this verse the servant is speaking to Abraham and his household after returning with Rebekah, describing the blessings God has bestowed on his master.

God’s Blessings: The verse begins by acknowledging the abundant blessings that the LORD had bestowed upon Abraham. It highlights how God greatly blessed Abraham, causing him to become a great man, and underscores the concept of God’s providence and His ability to bless His people abundantly.

Material Prosperity: The verse lists various material blessings that God gave to Abraham—flocks, herds, silver, gold, menservants, maidservants, camels, and donkeys. These possessions were indicators of wealth and prosperity in that culture, illustrating God’s faithfulness and provision.

Stewardship: The passage highlights Abraham’s role as a faithful steward of the blessings he received. It reminds us that the resources entrusted to us should be managed responsibly, used in ways that please God and benefit others.

God’s Guidance: Earlier in the narrative the servant recognized God’s direction in leading him to Rebekah as the chosen bride for Isaac. This demonstrates the servant’s awareness of God’s hand in his journey and his trust in divine guidance. The lesson is to seek God’s direction and rely on His leading in our own lives.

Overall, Genesis 24:35 serves as a reminder of God’s blessings, provision, and guidance in the lives of His people. It encourages believers to be faithful stewards of the resources God provides and to trust in His leading as they navigate life’s challenges.
