Genesis 41 recounts how Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers, rose to become second‑in‑command in Egypt after interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams of seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. In the midst of preparing the nation for the coming famine, Joseph’s two sons were born to his Egyptian wife, Asenath.
Joseph named his second son Ephraim, a name meaning “fruitfulness” or “double fruitfulness.” The name reflects the abundant blessings Joseph experienced in the land of his affliction. Though he endured slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment, God ultimately exalted him and made him fruitful in the very place of his suffering.
Spiritual Lessons

Finally, surrender to God’s providence, trusting that He can bring fruitfulness out of adversity and that all things work together for His purpose.
