Hosea 11 is a chapter in the Book of Hosea, a prophetic book in the Old Testament of the Bible. In this chapter, God expresses His deep love and compassion for Israel, despite their repeated disobedience and rebellion. God reminisces about how He called His son, Israel, out of Egypt and cared for them tenderly. He taught them to walk, held them by their arms, and healed their wounds.
However, despite God’s unwavering love, Israel turned away from Him. They chose to worship idols, ignoring the blessings and protection God provided. This rebellion grieved God’s heart deeply, and He wrestled with the decision to bring judgment upon them. God wonders how He could give them up, as His heart yearns to show them mercy.
While the chapter portrays God’s anger and disappointment at Israel’s actions, it also reveals His ultimate desire for restoration and reconciliation. God promises that although He will punish Israel for their disobedience, He will not completely destroy them. Instead, He will extend His mercy and gather them back, restoring them to their land and His favor.
