Isaiah 14:24

Posted on 18 May at 15:07
Listen to this article

“The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand.”

Context:The book of Isaiah is a prophetic book in the Old Testament, and it contains prophecies, messages, and visions from the prophet Isaiah. This verse is part of a larger passage (Isaiah 14:24-27) in which God pronounces judgment against Assyria.

Divine Assertion:The verse begins with the declaration, “The Lord of hosts hath sworn.” This emphasizes the certainty and authority behind God’s words. When God swears an oath, it is an assurance that what He says will come to pass without fail.

God’s Thoughts and Purposes:The verse continues, “Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand.” This statement highlights the sovereignty of God. It indicates that God’s thoughts and purposes are not subject to change or failure. What God has determined will inevitably happen, and His plans will stand firm.

Application:This verse reminds us of the unchanging nature of God and the reliability of His word. It reassures believers that God’s plans and purposes will ultimately be fulfilled. It encourages us to trust in His sovereignty and have confidence that His promises will come to pass, just as He has declared.

  • Overall:Isaiah 14:24 reaffirms God’s authority and faithfulness. It assures us that His plans are sure and unshakable, and it encourages us to place our trust in Him, knowing that His purposes will be accomplished.
