Isaiah 3:10

Posted on 18 May at 15:08

“Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.”

Context:This verse is part of a larger passage in which the prophet Isaiah speaks about the impending judgment that God will bring upon Jerusalem and Judah due to their disobedience and sin. In the preceding verses, Isaiah describes the moral decay and social injustice prevailing among the people. Despite this, there is a message of hope for the righteous, which is highlighted in Isaiah 3:10.

The Address to the Righteous:The verse begins with the command to “say ye to the righteous.” Here, God instructs Isaiah to deliver a specific message to those who are righteous and upright in their conduct. The term “righteous” refers to individuals who live in accordance with God’s commands, seeking to do what is just and pleasing to Him.

The Promise of Well-being:The verse continues, “that it shall be well with him.” This statement assures the righteous that despite the impending judgment and turmoil surrounding them, they can find comfort in the knowledge that their ultimate outcome will be positive. God promises that He will take care of them and provide for their well-being. This assurance extends beyond physical well-being and encompasses their spiritual state and eternal destiny.

Reaping the Fruit of Their Doings:The verse concludes, “for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.” This phrase implies that the righteous will experience the positive consequences of their actions. Those who faithfully follow God and live according to His ways can expect to reap the benefits of their obedience. The “fruit” refers to the outcomes, rewards, and blessings that result from their righteous deeds.

Overall, Isaiah 3:10 serves as a reminder that even in times of turmoil and judgment, God remains faithful to the righteous. It reassures them that they can trust in God’s provision and promises, knowing that their obedience and faithfulness will be rewarded. This verse encourages believers to persevere in righteousness and trust in God’s sovereignty, regardless of the circumstances they face.
