Isaiah 41:20

Posted on 18 May at 15:06

“That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.”

Isaiah 41:20 (KJV): This verse is part of a larger passage in the book of Isaiah where God is comforting His people, assuring them of His presence and power to deliver them. In the preceding verses, God promises to provide for His people, to help them, and to make them victorious over their enemies.

Now, let’s break down Isaiah 41:20 and examine its key elements:

“That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together”:This phrase emphasizes the purpose of God’s actions and interventions. God desires that His people perceive, recognize, reflect upon, and comprehend the works He performs on their behalf. He wants them to have a deep understanding of His involvement in their lives.

“That the hand of the LORD hath done this”:The “hand of the LORD” symbolizes God’s power and authority. It refers to the divine intervention and mighty works that God accomplishes. In this context, God is assuring His people that it is His hand that is at work, delivering them from their enemies and providing for their needs. The phrase emphasizes the source of their blessings and protection.

“And the Holy One of Israel hath created it”:Here, God is identified as the “Holy One of Israel.” This title underscores God’s unique and set-apart nature. It highlights His faithfulness to His covenant with the people of Israel. The phrase “hath created it” signifies that God is the ultimate creator and sustainer of all things. It emphasizes that everything that happens is under His control and subject to His divine will.

The verse as a whole highlights God’s desire for His people to recognize and acknowledge His hand in their lives. It points to the importance of reflecting on God’s works, understanding His power, and recognizing Him as the Creator and sustainer of all things. Through this verse, God encourages His people to have a deep and abiding trust in Him and to acknowledge His involvement in every aspect of their lives.

Overall, Isaiah 41:20 reminds believers of God’s sovereignty, faithfulness, and power. It calls them to have a mindset of gratitude, praise, and reliance on Him.
