Isaiah 54:14

Listen to this article

“In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.”

Isaiah 54:14 (KJV) says:

This verse is part of a prophetic passage in the book of Isaiah where the prophet speaks to the people of Israel, offering them hope and encouragement. It is a message of restoration, blessing, and divine protection from God.

“In righteousness shalt thou be established”:The phrase “in righteousness” refers to the state of being morally upright and in accordance with God’s standards. It implies living a life of obedience to God’s commandments and walking in His ways. When the people of Israel embrace righteousness, they will experience stability and security in their lives. Righteousness brings a firm foundation and establishes a strong relationship with God.

“Thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear”:As a result of being established in righteousness, God promises that the people of Israel will be far from oppression. This indicates that God will protect them from the tyranny and injustice imposed upon them by their enemies or oppressors. They will not have to live in constant fear because God is their defender and deliverer. God’s righteous presence ensures their safety and gives them the confidence to face any situation without fear.

“And from terror; for it shall not come near thee”:The phrase “terror shall not come near thee” emphasizes God’s promise of protection. The people of Israel can take comfort in knowing that God will shield them from any form of terror or harm. This assurance is not only physical but also spiritual and emotional. God’s presence removes the fear and anxiety that may otherwise overwhelm them.

In summary, Isaiah 54:14 conveys God’s promise of security and protection to the people of Israel when they live in righteousness. It assures them that they will be far from oppression, fear, and terror.

It is important to note that while this verse was originally addressed to the people of Israel, as believers in Christ, we can also find application and encouragement in its message. We can seek righteousness and trust in God’s protection in our lives as well.

Remember to consider the broader context of the chapter and the entire book of Isaiah to gain a deeper understanding of God’s message to His people.
