And when yee see this, your heart shall reioyce, and your bones shall flourish like an herbe: and the hand of the Lord shall be knowen towards his seruants, and his indignation towards his enemies. Isaiah 66:14 (KJV)

Historical and Contextual Background:

The book of Isaiah is attributed to the prophet Isaiah and contains messages from God primarily addressed to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. Scholars commonly divide the book into three sections: chapters 1‑39 (First Isaiah), chapters 40‑55 (Deutero‑Isaiah), and chapters 56‑66 (Trito‑Isaiah). Isaiah 66:14 appears in the final chapter, concluding a prophetic vision of the future restoration and renewal of Jerusalem and its inhabitants.

Key Themes and Meanings:

a) Rejoicing and Restoration – The verse declares that when God’s promises are fulfilled, the people’s hearts will rejoice, emphasizing the joy that accompanies divine restoration.

b) Flourishing and Healing – The image of bones flourishing like an herb conveys vitality, growth, and renewal, suggesting that God will bring health and wholeness to His people.

c) God’s Intervention – The “hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants” highlights God’s active presence, provision, and blessing in the lives of the faithful.

d) Indignation toward Enemies – The reference to God’s indignation toward His enemies affirms that divine justice will be executed against those who oppose Him and His purposes.

Application and Spiritual Lessons:

Joyful Expectation – Believers are encouraged to anticipate the fulfillment of God’s promises with a heart filled with joy, trusting that restoration will come in God’s perfect timing.

Healing and Wholeness – The flourishing‑bone imagery reminds Christians that God can restore physical, emotional, and spiritual health, inviting them to seek His healing touch.

God’s Providential Care – Recognizing that the Lord’s hand is known toward His servants offers comfort that God is intimately involved, guiding, protecting, and providing for His people.

Divine Justice – While Christians are called to love and pray for their enemies, the verse reassures them that God will ultimately bring righteous judgment upon persistent opposition.

Overall, Isaiah 66:14 delivers a powerful message of hope, restoration, and divine intervention. It assures believers that God’s hand is at work, bringing joy, healing, and justice. The passage calls the faithful to trust in God’s faithfulness, rejoice in His promises, and rely on His providential care in every circumstance.
