John 9:7

Posted on 18 May at 14:37
Listen to this article

“And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”

Context:In John 9, Jesus heals a man who was born blind. The healing takes place on the Sabbath, which causes controversy among the Pharisees. In verse 7, Jesus instructs the blind man to wash in the pool of Siloam.

The name “Siloam” means “Sent” or “One who is sent.” This is significant because Jesus is often referred to as the “Sent One” or the “One sent from God.” The pool of Siloam represents the divine authority and power of Jesus to bring about spiritual sight and transformation.

Obedience and Faith:The blind man demonstrates obedience and faith by following Jesus’ command to go and wash in the pool of Siloam. He doesn’t question or doubt Jesus’ words but simply obeys. His obedience leads to a miraculous healing, and he receives his sight.

Spiritual Cleansing:The act of washing in the pool of Siloam symbolises more than physical cleansing. It represents spiritual cleansing and renewal. In the Bible, water is often associated with purification and the washing away of sins.

The Power of Jesus’ Word:Jesus’ command to the blind man to wash in the pool of Siloam demonstrates His authority and power over physical and spiritual conditions. His words have the power to bring about miraculous changes in people’s lives.

  • Remember, while this Bible study provides insights into John 9:7, it is always valuable to read and study the surrounding verses and the entire chapter to gain a comprehensive understanding of the passage.
