Joshua Chapter 6

Summery

In Joshua 6, the Israelites faced their first major battle in the Promised Land, Jericho. The city was tightly shut because of the Israelites, but God assured Joshua of victory. The Lord instructed Joshua to march around the city once for six days with seven priests carrying trumpets before the Ark of the Covenant. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times, and when the priests blew the trumpets, all the people were to shout. Following these instructions, the Israelites marched as commanded, and on the seventh day, after the seventh round, they shouted and the walls of Jericho fell flat. The Israelites then rushed into the city, conquering it and destroying everything in it, except for Rahab and her family, who had previously assisted the Israelite spies.
