Lamentations 3:63

Behold, their sitting downe and their rising vp, I am their musicke. Lamentations 3:63 (KJV)

The Book of Lamentations is composed of five chapters, and chapter three contains sixty‑six verses, confirming that verse sixty‑three is a valid verse within the chapter. The quoted line “Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.” is presented in the King James Version as Lamentations 3:63 according to one source. Another source notes that this quotation is not found in any verse of the King James Version and instead records Lamentations 3:63 as “He hath turned his back unto my sins, and bare them not.” Both observations are recorded, reflecting the differing statements about the exact wording of the verse. In addition, a lamenting expression is recorded: “Thou treatest me as an abominable thing; as though I were a monster.” This statement conveys a sense of personal anguish and aligns with the overall tone of lament found throughout the book. The juxtaposition of the quoted verse, the claim of its absence, and the alternative rendering illustrates the complexity of textual transmission and the importance of careful reference to the biblical text. While the verse block provided at the beginning reflects the wording “Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick,” the acknowledgment that some authorities do not locate this wording in the KJV and instead cite a different phrase underscores the need for verification when studying scriptural passages. The study therefore presents both the quoted verse as given, the structural fact of chapter three’s length, the alternative rendering, and the related lamenting statement, allowing the reader to see the full range of material supplied in the drafts.
