Luke 17:30

Posted on 18 May at 14:39
Listen to this article

“Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”

Context:This verse is part of a larger passage where Jesus is teaching His disciples about the coming of the Kingdom of God. In this particular verse, Jesus is referring to the future revelation or manifestation of the Son of Man, which is a title He often used to refer to Himself.

Here are a few key points to consider in understanding Luke 17:30:

The Day of the Son of Man’s Revelation:Jesus is speaking about a future event when He will be revealed in His full glory and authority. This verse suggests a time when Jesus’ divine identity and kingship will be unmistakably manifested to all.

Similarities to the Days of Noah and Lot:In the preceding verses, Jesus draws a parallel between the days of Noah and Lot and the time of His revelation. He highlights that people were living their lives without much concern or awareness of the impending judgment that would come upon them. Similarly, when the Son of Man is revealed, it will catch many people unaware and unprepared.

Significance of the Title “Son of Man”:By referring to Himself as the Son of Man, Jesus is emphasizing His humanity and His role as the Messiah, who would suffer, die, and be resurrected. But in this verse, Jesus is also highlighting His future return as the exalted Son of Man, coming in power and glory.

Eschatological Implications:Luke 17:30 has eschatological implications, pointing to the end times and the second coming of Jesus Christ. The day of the Son of Man’s revelation signifies a climactic event in human history when Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead.
