Luke 8:18

Posted on 18 May at 14:41

“Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.”

Certainly! Let’s delve into Luke 8:18 in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. This verse is part of a passage where Jesus teaches about the parable of the sower and provides an explanation to His disciples. In Luke 8:18, Jesus says:This verse emphasizes the importance of how we listen and receive God’s word. Let’s break down the key elements of this verse and explore its deeper meaning.

1. “Take heed therefore how ye hear”: Jesus begins by urging His followers to pay attention to how they listen. This is a call to be attentive, discerning, and receptive when it comes to receiving God’s teachings and His Word. It implies that there is a right way to hear and understand spiritual truths.

2. “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given”: This statement highlights the principle of abundance. It suggests that those who possess a genuine desire for God’s truth and actively seek to understand and apply it will receive even more knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual blessings. When we cultivate a heart that is open to God’s Word, we can expect to receive greater insight and revelation.

3. “And whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have”: Conversely, this part of the verse warns that those who lack an earnest desire for God’s truth and do not properly apply the knowledge they possess may lose even the little understanding they think they have. This implies that negligence or indifference towards God’s Word can result in spiritual stagnation or even regression.
