Mark Chapter 2

Summery

Mark 2 is a chapter in the Gospel of Mark, one of the four canonical gospels in the New Testament. This chapter presents several significant events in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. It begins with the account of Jesus healing a paralyzed man, not only forgiving his sins but also demonstrating His authority to do so. This action draws criticism from religious leaders who question Jesus’ authority.

The chapter continues with Jesus calling Levi (also known as Matthew), a tax collector, to be one of His disciples. Jesus dines with tax collectors and sinners, which leads to further scrutiny from the religious authorities. Jesus defends His actions, emphasizing that He came to call sinners to repentance.

The chapter concludes with Jesus challenging the Pharisees’ understanding of the Sabbath. He asserts that the Sabbath was made for man’s benefit, and He is the Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus heals a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath, sparking controversy among the Pharisees who plot against Him.
