Numbers 32:12

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the Lord.

Context

In Numbers 32, the tribes of Reuben and Gad, along with half the tribe of Manasseh, ask Moses for permission to settle east of the Jordan. Moses warns them not to repeat the failure of the previous generation, which refused to trust God and enter Canaan. This verse names the two exceptions among that generation.

Meaning

The phrase “they have wholly followed the LORD” describes complete, unreserved obedience and loyalty. Caleb and Joshua did not merely speak of faith; their actions proved it. They trusted God’s guidance and relied on His strength, even when the other ten spies returned with a fearful report. The word “wholly” means nothing was held back.
