Numbers 9 recounts events that took place in the second year after the Israelites had escaped from Egypt. God instructed Moses to observe the Passover, a significant commemoration of their liberation, on the fourteenth day of the first month. However, some individuals were ceremonially unclean at that time and unable to partake in the celebration.
Seeking guidance, these individuals approached Moses, who consulted with the Lord. God established a provision for those who were unclean or on a distant journey during the Passover. They were given the opportunity to observe the occasion exactly one month later, following the proper regulations and requirements.
The Israelites diligently followed these instructions, honoring the Passover as God had commanded. They encamped at various locations in the wilderness according to the movements of the cloud that symbolized God’s presence. Whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, signaling the Israelites to continue their journey, they promptly obeyed.
