Proverbs 10:31
“The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.”
Understanding the verse:“The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom”: This phrase emphasizes the importance of righteous individuals using their speech to convey wisdom. The “mouth of the just” refers to those who are upright, righteous, and in right standing with God. Their words have the potential to produce wisdom, understanding, and guidance for others. It highlights the responsibility of the righteous to use their words for positive and constructive purposes.
But the froward tongue shall be cut out: Here, “froward” means perverse, crooked, or deceitful. It refers to a tongue that is used to speak wickedness, lies, or malicious words. The phrase “shall be cut out” implies that the consequences of using such a tongue will be severe. It suggests that those who persistently engage in deceitful speech or use their words to cause harm will face retribution or punishment.
