Listen to this article

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

Context:The book of Revelation is the last book of the Bible, and it contains prophetic visions that were revealed to the apostle John. This particular verse comes from a section that describes the sounding of the seventh trumpet, which heralds the end of the world and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom.

Symbolism:The sounding of the seventh trumpet represents the culmination of God’s redemptive plan for the world. In this verse, we see a declaration made by voices in heaven, proclaiming that the kingdoms of this world have now become the kingdoms of the Lord and His Christ.

The Kingdom of God:This verse emphasizes the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom, in which He will reign forever. The phrase kingdoms of this world refers to the earthly kingdoms that exist under human rulership. However, when the seventh trumpet sounds, there is a transfer of authority, and these earthly kingdoms are taken over by God and His Christ. It signifies the ultimate victory of God’s kingdom over all other kingdoms.

The Reign of Christ:The verse declares that Christ will reign forever and ever. This highlights the eternal nature of His reign, indicating that there will be no end to His authority and sovereignty. It affirms that God’s plan for His kingdom will be fulfilled, and Christ will rule with power and glory.

Implications:Revelation 11:15 reminds believers of the ultimate triumph of God’s kingdom. It assures us that despite the struggles and challenges we may face in the present world, God is in control, and His plan will ultimately prevail. It encourages us to place our hope and trust in the eternal reign of Christ, knowing that His victory is certain.

Application:This verse calls believers to live with an eternal perspective, recognizing that the kingdoms of this world are temporary and passing, while the kingdom of God is everlasting. It encourages us to align our lives with the purposes and values of God’s kingdom, seeking to honour Him in all that we do.
