Revelation 14:7

Saying with a loud voice, Feare God, and giue glory to him, for the houre of his iudgement is come: and worshippe him that made heauen and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:7 (KJV)

The book of Revelation is a prophetic work filled with vivid visions and symbolic language. It was written by the apostle John while he was exiled on the island of Patmos. In chapter 14 John sees the Lamb—Jesus—standing on Mount Zion with 144,000 redeemed individuals who are singing a new song before the throne of God. In verse 7 an angel speaks with a loud voice, delivering a message that addresses the whole world.

The first command, “Fear God,” calls for a reverential awe rather than terror. To fear God is to recognize His holiness, power, and authority, to acknowledge His sovereign rule, and to submit willingly to His will. Such reverence produces obedience to His commandments and a desire to seek His guidance in every aspect of life.

The angel then urges believers to “give glory to Him.” Giving glory means acknowledging God’s greatness, His divine attributes, and His work in our lives. It involves praising Him, magnifying His name, and affirming that He alone is worthy of all honor and worship.

“The hour of his judgment is come” declares that a decisive moment of divine judgment has arrived. God will hold every person accountable for choices made, emphasizing the need to align one’s life with His will and to follow His commandments. This reminder underscores that there are real consequences for our actions, both in this present life and in the eternal realm.

Finally, the angel calls all to “worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” This summons believers to direct their worship solely to the Creator, the One true God who is the source of all existence. By honoring Him in worship, we affirm His role as the origin of everything and keep our devotion focused on Him alone.
