1 Chronicles 11:14

Posted on 18 May at 11:30

“And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.”

This verse is part of a larger passage that describes the exploits of David’s mighty men. These were the valiant warriors who fought alongside King David and accomplished remarkable feats of bravery and military success. In 1 Chronicles 11, we read about a specific incident where the Philistines had occupied a piece of land, and David’s men set themselves in the midst of that parcel to deliver it. Despite facing a formidable enemy, the warriors under David’s leadership fought valiantly and were victorious. The verse states that the LORD saved them by a great deliverance, highlighting that their success was ultimately attributed to God’s intervention.

There are a few key lessons we can draw from this verse:

  • Courage and Action:David’s men demonstrated courage by positioning themselves in the midst of the occupied land. They didn’t shy away from the challenge but took decisive action. Likewise, in our lives, we are called to face difficulties with courage and take action when necessary, relying on God’s strength.
  • Divine Intervention:The verse emphasizes that the LORD saved David’s men by a great deliverance. It reminds us that even in the face of formidable odds, God is able to intervene and bring about victory. As believers, we should trust in God’s power and seek His guidance and intervention in every situation we face.
  • God’s Faithfulness:This verse highlights God’s faithfulness to His people. Despite the strength of the Philistines, God provided a way for David’s men to be delivered. It serves as a reminder that God is faithful to His promises and is with us in our battles.

Overall, 1 Chronicles 11:14 encourages us to be courageous, take action, and trust in God’s faithfulness. It reminds us that victory comes not by our strength alone but through the intervention and deliverance of the Lord.
