1 Chronicles 13:7

Posted on 18 May at 11:30

“And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.”

Certainly! Here is a Bible study on 1 Chronicles 13:7 in the King James Version:This verse is part of the account of David’s attempt to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.

  • Passage:And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart. (1 Chronicles 13:7, KJV)
  • Context:This verse is part of the account of David’s attempt to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. The Ark of the Covenant was the sacred symbol of God’s presence among the Israelites, and David desired to bring it to the capital city.
  • The Ark in a new cart:David and his men decided to transport the Ark using a new cart instead of following the prescribed method given by God in the Law (Exodus 25:13-15; Numbers 4:15). The Ark was supposed to be carried by the Levites using poles inserted through rings on its sides.
  • Uzza and Ahio:These were the sons of Abinadab, in whose house the Ark had been kept for many years. Uzza and Ahio were responsible for driving the cart that carried the Ark.
  • a. Obedience to God’s instructions: This incident highlights the importance of following God’s commands and not deviating from them.
  • b. The holiness and reverence of God: The Ark of the Covenant represented the holiness and presence of God.
  • c. Consequences of disobedience: Uzza’s attempt to steady the Ark when it appeared to be tipping led to his death.
  • d. Seeking wisdom and guidance: When faced with decisions, it is essential to seek God’s wisdom and guidance through prayer and studying His Word.
  • e. Grace and forgiveness: Although Uzza’s disobedience had severe consequences, it is essential to remember that God is also a God of grace and forgiveness.
