1 Chronicles 16:24

Posted on 18 May at 11:30

Declare his glory among the heathen: his marueilous workes among all nations. 1 Chronicles 16:24 (KJV)

This verse calls believers to proclaim the glory of God to every people group, not only to Israel but also to the heathen and all nations. The phrase “declare his glory” points to the radiant manifestation of God’s presence, power, and majesty. It reflects His character—righteousness, holiness, and love. As followers of Christ, we are tasked with making God’s glory known by living lives that display His attributes, sharing personal testimonies of His faithfulness, and pointing others to Jesus.

The inclusion of “the heathen” and “all nations” underscores the universal scope of God’s redemptive plan. It aligns with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19‑20, where Jesus commands His disciples to go and make disciples of every nation. God’s desire is that His salvation and marvelous works be known throughout the world, breaking any ethnic or cultural barriers.

God’s marvelous works encompass the entire narrative of Scripture—from the creation of the world to the incarnation, death, and resurrection of Christ, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. These works demonstrate His power, mercy, and love, and they are worthy of proclamation. By recounting these mighty deeds, believers testify to the reality of God’s intervention in history and in personal lives.

Application: Every Christian is an ambassador of God’s glory and a witness to His marvelous works. This responsibility is lived out through personal evangelism, supporting missionary endeavors, engaging in community outreach, and embodying Christ‑like character in daily interactions. By doing so, we fulfill the biblical mandate to declare God’s glory among the heathen and to celebrate His marvelous works among all nations, thereby participating in the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth.
