Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.

Context
This verse belongs to a moment when King David prepares for the building of the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem. David himself could not build it because he had been a man of war. In the same way, we can serve faithfully even when we do not see the final result. We can also pursue peace in our relationships, knowing that God values harmony among His people. God’s promises are reliable, and He provides rest in His perfect time.

Reflection
God’s promise to David shows that He ordains both the worker and the work. Solomon received rest so that he could build the temple. In our lives, God may give us seasons of quietness to prepare for what He has planned. We can thank Him for the peace He provides and ask for wisdom to use it well. The same God who gave Solomon peace is willing to give us His peace today. As we wait, we can prepare for the tasks He assigns, trusting that He will supply what we need.
