1 Chronicles 3:18

Listen to this article

“Malchiram also, and Pedaiah, and Shenazar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.”

Context:To understand the significance of this verse, it’s important to consider the broader context of the passage.

The genealogy in 1 Chronicles 3 focuses on the descendants of David who would carry on his lineage and inherit the promises given to him by God.

It highlights the importance of preserving the genealogical records to maintain the integrity of the lineage.

Historical significance:The genealogies found in the Bible serve multiple purposes.

They provide a historical record of the lineage of various individuals, showing their connection to important figures and events in Israel’s history.

They also help establish the fulfillment of God’s promises, particularly the Messianic lineage that leads to Jesus Christ.

Individual names:In 1 Chronicles 3:18, six names are mentioned: Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

These individuals were descendants of David through his sons.

While the Bible does not provide much information about these particular individuals, their inclusion in the genealogical record is significant because it establishes their link to the royal line of David.

Preservation of lineage:The meticulous record-keeping of genealogies in the Bible reflects the importance of preserving family lines and history.

This practice allowed the Israelites to maintain accurate records and claim their inheritance, including the fulfillment of the Messianic promises.

It also underscores the faithfulness of God to fulfill His promises throughout generations.
