And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof round about it.

Context

The following verse, 1 Chronicles 6:56, notes that the fields and villages around Hebron were given to Caleb, showing a clear distinction between the city itself and its surrounding farmland. This distinction shows that God cared for both the Levites and the other tribes.
