Know ye not that we shall iudge Angels? How much more things that perteine to this life? 1 Corinthians 6:3 (KJV)

Context: The book of 1 Corinthians was written by the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth. In this chapter Paul addresses the issue of lawsuits among believers and provides guidance on resolving disputes within the church.

Judgment and Authority: In verse 3 Paul presents an intriguing, metaphorical concept by stating that believers will judge angels. This indicates that believers will have authority and a role in the future judgment of angelic beings. While Scripture does not give extensive details, it suggests believers will share in the administration of God’s justice.

Importance of Discernment: Paul’s question, “how much more things that pertain to this life?” underscores the need for believers to exercise discernment and sound judgment in everyday matters. If we are destined to judge angels, we ought certainly to handle earthly disputes wisely and make prudent decisions.

Responsibilities and Stewardship: The verse implies a responsibility to exercise good judgment and make choices that reflect our faith and align with God’s principles. We are called to be faithful stewards of the resources, relationships, and opportunities God has entrusted to us.

Trustworthy Judges: As Christians we are called to be peacemakers and reconcilers. The ability to judge righteously and resolve conflicts within the body of Christ is essential. We should seek to handle disputes with love, wisdom, and a desire for restoration rather than turning to secular courts.

The Future Role of Believers: Although the exact nature of judging angels is not fully explained, the passage highlights the honour and responsibility believers will have in the future. It reminds us that our actions and decisions in this life have eternal significance, urging us to live in a manner that pleases God.
