Luke Chapter 23

Summery

Chapter 23 of the Gospel of Luke in the King James Version (KJV) recounts the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. It is a crucial chapter that highlights the injustice and suffering endured by Jesus, as well as his unwavering faith and love for humanity.

In this chapter, Jesus is brought before Pilate, the Roman governor, who finds no fault in him but succumbs to the pressure of the crowd demanding Jesus’ crucifixion. Pilate sends Jesus to Herod, who mocks him before sending him back to Pilate. Despite being innocent, Jesus is condemned to death.

The chapter describes the heartbreaking journey to Golgotha, the place of crucifixion, where Jesus is accompanied by two criminals. On the cross, Jesus displays immense compassion and forgiveness, praying for his executioners’ forgiveness and promising paradise to one of the criminals beside him.

After Jesus breathes his last breath, darkness falls over the land, and the temple curtain is torn in two. Joseph of Arimathea, a devout man, obtains permission to bury Jesus in his own tomb.
