1 John 5:14

Posted on 18 May at 11:34

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.”

Here are a few key points to consider in understanding this verse:

Confidence in God:The verse begins with the phrase “And this is the confidence that we have in him.” It highlights the assurance and trust we can have in God. As believers, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that He is attentive to our prayers.

God Hears Us:The verse concludes, “he heareth us.” This statement assures us that God actively listens to our prayers. It emphasises His attentiveness and responsiveness to the prayers of His people. While God may not always answer in the exact way we expect or desire, we can be confident that He hears and considers our petitions.

Overall, 1 John 5:14 (KJV) encourages believers to approach God with confidence, praying according to His will. It assures us that God hears our prayers and underscores the importance of aligning our desires with His purposes. This verse highlights the relational aspect of prayer, reminding us that we can trust in God’s faithfulness as we seek Him in prayer.
