1 Samuel 23:19

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

1 Samuel 23:19 (KJV)

The Ziphites, though of the same tribe as David, chose to betray him. Their action was a direct act of treachery against God’s anointed king.

They said David hid in strongholds in the wood, on the hill of Hachilah, south of Jeshimon. This was precise information, showing their intent to help Saul. He even blessed them for their information, showing how far he had fallen. Yet this event sets the stage for God’s continued protection of David, as seen in the following verses.
