So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

Context
The Apostle Paul wrote 1 Thessalonians around AD 51 or 52 to the church in Thessalonica, a city in Macedonia. These believers were relatively new converts, having turned from idols to serve the living and true God (1 Thessalonians 1:9). In the preceding verse, Paul notes that they became imitators of him and of the Lord, receiving the word in much affliction with joy of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 1:6). Verse 7 draws the direct conclusion: because of their faithful reception and conduct under suffering, they became “ensamples” to all believers in the Roman provinces of Macedonia and Achaia.
