2 Chronicles 2:15

Posted on 18 May at 11:37

Now therefore the wheate and the barley, the oyle and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send vnto his seruants: 2 Chronicles 2:15 (KJV)

This verse is part of a passage where King Solomon is preparing to build the temple in Jerusalem. He seeks help from Hiram, the king of Tyre, who had previously provided assistance to Solomon’s father, King David. Hiram would become an ally of Solomon during the temple project. Solomon asks Hiram to send him the necessary resources for the construction of the temple.

Planning and preparation: King Solomon demonstrates wisdom in planning and preparing for the temple, recognizing that he needs essential resources such as wheat, barley, oil, wine, flour, and honey for the sustenance of his workers. This shows that he was thoughtful and considerate in providing for the needs of the people involved in the project. It is a reminder for us to plan and prepare adequately before embarking on any significant endeavour.

Seeking assistance: Solomon recognised that he could not accomplish everything on his own. He sought help from a neighbouring king who had resources and expertise. This teaches us the importance of seeking assistance when needed. We do not have to bear the burden alone; we can reach out to others for support, guidance, and collaboration.

Cooperation and relationships: The request from Solomon to Hiram was not just a business transaction but also built upon the previous relationship between King David and Hiram, as well as the friendly relations between their kingdoms. The cooperation between the two kingdoms was based on mutual respect and trust. This highlights the significance of healthy relationships and collaboration with others. Strong relationships can open doors for mutual benefits and help accomplish great things.

God’s provision: While Solomon sought assistance from Hiram, ultimately it was God who provided the necessary resources for the construction of the temple. Solomon acknowledged God’s role throughout the process and recognised that the provisions came from the Lord. It reminds us that God is the ultimate provider, and we should acknowledge His provision and give Him the glory.

In conclusion, 2 Chronicles 2:15 teaches us the importance of planning, seeking assistance when needed, fostering relationships, and acknowledging God’s provision. As we apply these principles in our lives, we can be more effective in our endeavours and give glory to God for His faithfulness.
