2 Chronicles 25:26

Posted on 18 May at 11:38

“Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?”

Historical Context: Amaziah was the ninth king of Judah, ruling from approximately 796-767 BC. He reigned after his father, Joash.

  • During his reign, Amaziah accomplished military victories against the Edomites, but he also faced spiritual challenges and made some unwise decisions.
  • Examining the Verse:
  • “Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last”:This phrase indicates that the events and deeds of Amaziah’s reign, both significant and minor, are recorded elsewhere.
  • “behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?”:The verse acknowledges that a detailed account of Amaziah’s reign can be found in the historical records mentioned, specifically the “book of the kings of Judah and Israel.”

By studying this verse, we can appreciate the importance of historical records, accountability, and learning from the past.
