“Unto the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs:”

Zebulun recognized its responsibility to provide for those who ministered on their behalf. The inclusion of the "suburbs" or pasturelands was a deeply practical provision. It gave the Levites the space necessary to graze their livestock and sustain their families. By having their basic earthly needs met by the surrounding community, the Levites were freed to remain entirely devoted to their sacred duties without being overwhelmed by the intense demands of agriculture.
