Exodus 26:10

Listen to this article

"And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second."

Exodus 26 describes the instructions given to Moses by God for the construction of the tabernacle, which was a portable sanctuary that served as a place of worship for the Israelites during their time in the wilderness. This particular verse focuses on the details regarding the curtains that would be used to form the walls of the tabernacle.

In Exodus 26:1-6, God instructs Moses to make ten curtains of fine linen, woven with blue, purple, and scarlet threads. These curtains were to be joined together to form the tabernacle’s walls. Each curtain was to be twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide. In verse 8, God instructed Moses to make eleven curtains in total.

In verse 10, God specifies that fifty loops should be made on the edge of the outermost curtain in the coupling, and another fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that couples the second one. These loops were to be made of blue material, and they would serve as the means of joining the curtains together.

The loops mentioned here were likely created by forming loops or buttonholes along the length of the curtains. By attaching loops to one curtain and coupling them with loops on the adjacent curtain, the curtains would be securely joined together. This method allowed for the tabernacle to be assembled and disassembled easily as the Israelites traveled through the wilderness.

It’s important to note that the details in Exodus 26 are part of the intricate instructions given to Moses to ensure that the tabernacle was constructed according to God’s design. The tabernacle served as a symbol of God’s presence among the Israelites and was a central place for worship, sacrifice, and seeking God’s guidance.

By studying these specific instructions, we can appreciate the level of detail and precision with which God desired the tabernacle to be built. It also highlights the importance of obedience and attention to detail when carrying out God’s instructions.

Overall, Exodus 26:10 demonstrates the meticulous planning and design that went into the construction of the tabernacle, emphasizing the importance of reverence and carefulness in fulfilling God’s commands.
