Daniel 7:11

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

Daniel 7:11 (KJV)

In Daniel’s night vision, four beasts emerge from the sea, symbolizing successive world empires. The fourth beast is exceedingly dreadful, with ten horns, and among them arises a little horn that speaks boastful, arrogant words. The immediate setting of verse 11 is the heavenly courtroom, where the Ancient of Days sits on a fiery throne and the books are opened.

Verse 11 records Daniel’s continued attention to the “voice of the great words” spoken by the little horn. This blasphemous speech exalts itself against God. In response, Daniel observes the beast being slain, its body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. The beast represents both the arrogant ruler and the oppressive kingdom he embodies. The judgment signifies complete annihilation, with fire representing divine judgment and total destruction.

The boastful words of the horn are the catalyst for this judgment, highlighting the biblical principle that pride and arrogance against God provoke His righteous response. The destruction of the beast is a direct act of God’s judgment, demonstrating that no earthly power can withstand the decree of the heavenly court. This judgment serves as a foundation for the subsequent revelation of the everlasting kingdom given to the Son of man and the saints of the Most High.

This passage affirms God’s sovereignty over all earthly kingdoms. No matter how powerful or arrogant human rulers become, their dominion is temporary, and they will be held accountable before God. It encourages faithfulness and steadfastness in the face of opposition, knowing that God will ultimately bring justice upon those who oppose Him.

The vision assures the faithful that oppressive power, which speaks great words against God and His people, will not endure forever but will be utterly destroyed. The verse underscores the certainty of God’s judgment upon all who exalt themselves against Him.
