Listen to this article

“A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.”

Context:Before delving into the verse itself, it’s important to understand the context. The book of Daniel is a prophetic book in the Old Testament, and Daniel was a prophet who received visions and dreams from God. In this chapter, Daniel receives a vision of four great beasts representing four world empires and the Ancient of Days, who represents God, seated on a throne.

The Fiery Stream:The verse begins by describing a fiery stream that issued and came forth from before God. This imagery signifies divine judgment and the awesome power of God. Fire is often associated with purification, refining, and judgment in the Bible.

Thousand Thousands Ministered:The verse goes on to mention “thousand thousands” who ministered before God. This emphasizes the multitude of angels and heavenly beings in the presence of God. It portrays the grandeur and majesty of God’s heavenly court, highlighting the vast number of celestial beings serving and worshiping Him.

Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand Stood:The verse continues by saying “ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.” This further emphasizes the countless number of beings present in God’s presence. The number “ten thousand” in ancient Jewish culture symbolizes a complete or infinite number, so this phrase signifies an innumerable multitude gathered in the divine court.

The Judgment and the Books:The verse concludes by stating, “the judgment was set, and the books were opened.” This phrase signifies the commencement of a divine judgment. In this scene, God, as the supreme judge, begins to render judgment upon the nations and the kingdoms represented by the four beasts in Daniel’s vision. The books being opened represent the records of actions, deeds, and accounts being examined for judgment.

Overall, Daniel 7:10 portrays a majestic scene of God’s heavenly court, with innumerable beings in His presence. It highlights God’s power, the multitude of His heavenly host, and the commencement of divine judgment.
