Matthew 24:7

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Meaning

The phrase “nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” points to wars and conflicts between peoples and governments. The Greek words ethnos (“nation” or “people”) and basileia (“kingdom”) indicate widespread international and political unrest, disrupting global peace.

Jesus also predicts famines—severe food shortages caused by crop failures, natural disasters, or turmoil—and pestilences, which are deadly diseases or plagues. These signs bring great hardship and suffering.

Earthquakes in “divers places” (various locations) suggest increased seismic activity worldwide, reminding us of the earth’s vulnerability to catastrophic events.
