John 15:10

Context:John 15 is part of Jesus’ teaching to His disciples during the Last Supper. In this chapter, Jesus uses the metaphor of a vine and branches to illustrate the relationship between Himself (the vine) and His followers (the branches). He emphasizes the importance of abiding in Him and bearing fruit.

Obedience to Commandments:Jesus begins verse 10 by stating, “If ye keep my commandments.” This highlights the significance of obedience to His teachings. The commandments Jesus refers to encompass His entire teaching, including the Sermon on the Mount and His instructions throughout the Gospels.

Abiding in Christ’s Love:Jesus emphasizes that obedience to His commandments is linked to abiding in His love. When we faithfully follow His teachings and live in accordance with His will, we experience a deep and abiding love from Him. Our obedience is an expression of our love for Christ.

The Fruitfulness of Abiding:Earlier in this passage, Jesus speaks of the fruit that is produced by those who abide in Him. By abiding in His love through obedience, we bear fruit that glorifies God and demonstrates our discipleship.
