Revelation 7:7

Posted on 18 May at 14:18
Listen to this article

“And I heard the number of them that were sealed: and there were sealed of the tribes of the children of Israel twelve thousand of every tribe.”

Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. Revelation 7:7 (KJV)

This verse is part of a larger passage in Revelation 7:4-8, which describes the sealing of 144,000 servants of God from the twelve tribes of Israel during the end times. These servants are marked or sealed on their foreheads to signify their belonging to God and to protect them from harm. In this specific verse, we see the mention of three tribes: Simeon, Levi, and Issachar. Each tribe has twelve thousand individuals sealed. It is important to note that this enumeration of twelve thousand from each tribe does not necessarily indicate a literal number but rather represents a symbolic or figurative value.

The tribe of Simeon:Simeon was one of the twelve sons of Jacob (also known as Israel) and was the second son of Leah, Jacob’s wife. The tribe of Simeon settled in the southern part of the land of Canaan. They played a significant role in the history of Israel, but later their numbers decreased, and they were eventually absorbed by the tribe of Judah.

The tribe of Levi:Levi was another son of Jacob and Leah. The Levites were chosen by God to serve as the priestly tribe in Israel. They were not given a specific land inheritance like the other tribes, as their portion was the Lord Himself. They were responsible for performing religious duties, such as offering sacrifices, leading worship, and teaching the Law to the people.

The tribe of Issachar:Issachar was the ninth son of Jacob and Leah. The tribe of Issachar settled in the northern part of Canaan and was known for its expertise in agricultural affairs. They were characterized as diligent and knowledgeable about the times and seasons.

The sealing of these twelve thousand from each tribe represents the preservation and protection of God’s faithful servants during the end times. The exact identity and composition of the 144,000 sealed individuals is a topic of debate among scholars and interpretations vary. Some believe that this group represents a literal number of Jewish believers, while others see it as a symbolic representation of all God’s faithful people, including both Jews and Gentiles.

In conclusion, Revelation 7:7 highlights the sealing of twelve thousand individuals from the tribes of Simeon, Levi, and Issachar during the end times. This verse emphasizes God’s preservation and protection of His faithful servants, symbolically represented by the specific tribes mentioned. It invites believers to trust in God’s providence and remain faithful to Him even in challenging times.
